MISSIONS OF HOPE TRIP

A group of nine recently returned from a one-week medical mission trip to Santa Barbara, Honduras. Thankfully, the ARSA agent allowed the $20,000 worth of meds we carried through customs with little delay (Not always the case!).
Our group spent some joyful times with the kids from the Hogar (orphanage). We shared two suppers with them and of course the traditional pancake breakfast. We worshiped together and took them to a soccer facility. The supper on our final night also celebrated the accomplishments of two young ladies who grew up in the Hogar and recently graduated from a five-year university course in Peru. We are so proud of Damaris and Eva! (Tania also graduated but she is still in Peru).
Our medical team spent two days at the hospital, seeing seventy or more patients, to determine who would need surgery. Some patients received good news; some were inoperable. There were times of tears, prayers, and thanksgiving. We rejoiced with long-time cancer survivors. One woman had been operated on by Dr. Williams twenty years prior. She is thriving and in good health. In total, eight surgeries were performed, one of them a five-hour marathon which thankfully turned out well! We also had the opportunity to give Bibles to a number of patients.
One team member (Igor) connected with a friend who does prison ministry in Honduras, and together they ministered to hundreds of prisoners. Some of our group and children from the Hogar went rafting with Danny down a nearby river and lived to tell of their adventures!
