Lev's Recollections from the January Medical Trip

Hola Amigos,
We recently returned from our medical mission trip to Santa Barbara, Honduras. This was my seventh trip to the region, but my first accompanying a medical team. It was a true honor to witness the incredible work performed by the doctors, surgeons, anesthetists, and nurses at the hospital.
Many of those treated were women and children who otherwise could not afford care for life-threatening ailments. We were joined for the first time by plastic surgeon Dr. Ryan and his assistant, Traci; the stories of the women they helped were deeply moving. We also welcomed Dr. Michelle who wasn't planning on pulling any teeth, but was able to provide much-needed dental relief to a single mother and her child after Danny helped secure a chair at a local dental clinic.
The children at the Hogar were on their final week of winter vacation, allowing us to take them hiking to a famous local hot springs one day and another evening we hosted them for dinner with a bonfire and s'mores. It brought us great joy to spend time with them.
Additionally, we purchased materials for a new fence behind the kitchen at the Hogar to keep donkeys and dogs out that were causing a nuisance.
In other news, significant progress has been made on the clinic Dr. Williams has been planning and working on for years. Please stay tuned for a specific update on that project later this year.
